A QUIET THANKSGIVING

Life works this way sometimes. This is the first year in a long time that my husband and I will be spending a very quite Thanksgiving Day with just two of our children. I guess this is what happens as you get older and you start being empty nesters. We are not complaining, actually, we are very much looking forward to a quite day at home, cooking, eating and being  bums for the rest of the day. LOL
This has been a rough and busy year for our family and come Christmas, we will have a house full, so we are taking all the quite time we can get.

Our Thanksgiving table this year is very simple.

I am using my new Gibson dish set that I bought a while back and had not used yet.
I love the warm colors on these plates. Perfect for Fall.

Finished off the table with a Fall centerpiece and candles.

Fall napkin rings

My Cristal d' Arques glasses with gold trim

I love this little ceramic pumpkins in different colors to dress up each place setting

I sincerely wish that you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving Day.
Thank you for coming by!

HALL CHEST

Today, I am sharing with you all our "homemade" hall cabinet.
My husband built it himself and I have to say, it was not an easy project.
This is not the first time we take on a project like this, but, for some reason, this one gave us trouble from the start. We never worked with dark stain and it proved to be a real challenge. We kept messing up, so we have been sanding for months now! LOL
Finding the metal pieces for the doors was also very difficult, so we really had to get creative.
The good news is that to built the whole cabinet only cost us $120.00 and, six months of very hard work.
Needless to say, we are both very, very glad it is finished and very happy with the way it turned out.

Here are some pictures of our "pride and joy" LOL

The only thing I bought new to decorate was the table runner.
I needed a 90" long runner in a color that would compliment the picture above the cabinet and I finally found it at HomeGoods for $14.99. Great deal!
The picture frames, charger and candle holders are gifts that my husband and children have bought for me through out the years. They all came from Kirklands.

The small clock I bought at Hobby Lobby many years ago.

Meet my assistant! That is Miss Angel. She holds the case for the camera while I take the pictures. LOL
Actually, she is just making sure I am not leaving the house without her.

All I need now is a nice carpet runner to finish that space.

And, just today, I found the perfect candles with colors that compliment the picture.
They were 80% off at Hobby Lobby, so I paid $2 each.

I hope you enjoyed our latest project. I would like to say this is our last one for this year, but it would probably be a lie. The plans for a big home renovation project are in the making right now. More to come!
I hope you are all having a great week!
